Boston at the Louisville Zoo

Picture 1 of 27

This was taken when we got to the giraffes. Meck immediately wanted out, so that left Boston by himself in the stroller.

Jessica and I celebrated 11 years of marriage on June 20. We were trying to figure out what we wanted to do when I happened to look in the Kentucky Living magazine for nearby events. I noticed Dora The Explorer was going to be at the splash partk in the Louisville Zoo over the weekend, and we all know how much Meck loves Dora. So I ran it past Jessica and we decided to make a small overnight trip to Louisville to visit the Zoo, and to visit Lynn’s Paradise Cafe for breakfast on Saturday morning. Jessica’s dad, Andy, went with us and we had a really nice, small trip. We made it to the zoo, but we didn’t make it to Lynn’s. We have been to Lynn’s before, so it wasn’t a huge loss. However, the trip to the zoo was really nice… and HOT! I think the temperature was in the mid 90’s and I have no idea what the heat index was, but let me tell you… it was super hot!

We visited the zoo from about 10AM until around 12:30PM. We then went back to our hotel and took naps. We all had headaches from the heat. I normally hate to take a nap, but I seriously tried to take a nap this time. But it was not to be… Boston wasn’t sleepy because he slept for about 20 minutes while we traveled from the zoo to the hotel, so he was ready to play. I ended up staying awake with him.

After naps, we went back to the zoo for the beach party with Dora the Explorer. Meck really enjoyed it, but she was apprehensive at first. I didn’t think I was ever going to get Boston to enjoy it, but he finally came around. I didn’t realize I was going to get wet because I didn’t think I’d have to talk the two of them into the water like I did. I ended up soaked from head to toe! It was worth it though.

I’ve posted some pictures from the zoo, splash park, and from the hotel swimming pool where Meck swam with her papaw, Andy. I wish I could be more descriptive on this post, but I’m trying to get in bed and it’s somewhere around 1:40AM as I write this. Maybe more will come later!

Enjoy!

Kevin
