Wow, it’s been a really long time since I’ve posted any content on here, and I apologize to anyone still reading the blog. I think Jessica and I have become so spoiled by Facebook that we never think to post content on here. You see, Facebook makes it easy to take a picture with your cell phone and immediately post it to your Facebook account, especially with your iPhone (which Jessica got for her birthday). We have a lot of pictures to share, and I really don’t know where to begin with posting them on here. So much has happened since the last post that it’s really hard to determine the starting point for sharing everything, but here it goes:
America has grown up so much that it’s scary! She can nearly carry on a conversation with us now. If she wants something, she can tell you what she wants (she’s VERY good at telling us what she DOESN’T want). But she’s speaking sentences now and it amazes me. One of her most common sayings is when she wants to do something herself: she says “It’s MY do it!” If it’s something she wants me to do then of course “It’s Daddy’s do it”. She can tell you which movie (or as she says “boomie”) she wants to watch by telling you either the main character, or the subject matter. For Dora The Explorer she’ll say “Dee” for Dora or “Boots” for Dora’s best friend, Boots (who happens to be Meck’s favorite character in any movie or television show). For Nemo she’ll say “Zish boomie” which translates to “Fish movie”.
I love to walk in at Regina’s and sort of surprise Meck and watch her face light up as she yells “Daddy!” and comes running to me. Yesterday she ran to me and practically bowled me over as she hugged me. I didn’t even have to ask for a kiss, she just gave it to me! One of her new things is singing along to songs in movies. There’s one particular song she likes in the Care Bears movie that she’s getting really good at singing along with. Jessica and I will usually stop any converstation in order to hear her sing along with that movie. Nothing makes me happier than moments like those.
My girl is going to be two years old next month. She’s still Daddy’s Girl and she’ll tell you so! Just last night we were sitting at the table and she was yelling “Daddy’s Girl” over and over without anybody prompting her to do it. Needless to say I was pleased.
As for Boston, the “Little Guy” as we call him is getting to be a big boy! He’s incredibly funny to watch because he’s different than Meck was at that age. I guess it’s because he’s a boy, I don’t know. One thing we’ve discovered is that he’s a little computer nerd (like his dad, I guess). If he spots a computer then you’re doomed! I’ve had times where I will put my laptop on the couch and go in the kitchen to get something to drink only to come back and see that he has pulled himself up to the couch and is pressing keys on the laptop! The boy is obsessed!
Last month I was working on the laptop and Boston saw me, so he pulled himself up on the chair I was sitting in. He started reaching for the keys and I told him “no” but he started getting a little fussy, so I picked him up and started Notepad for him to just type random characters on while he was typing on the keys. I told Jessica to take some pics of him while he was doing that (with her iPhone) and she did, which you’ll see. However, I wanted to get some pics of how he reacts when you take the computer from him, so I took the laptop from him and he had a meltdown right there. It’s funny really because he looks so nice and calm and then BAM! he’s completely lost it because the computer was taken from him. I swear the kid is nerdier than I am!
Boston has also started to talk some. He can say Dada and Mama as well as bye-bye. He waves while he’s saying bye-bye. He also has about 5 teeth! 3 on top, 2 on the bottom. He looks so cute with those teeth in there now. He’s still the happy, smiling boy we’ve shown on here before. He’s still a little biased towards his mom when he wants to be comforted, but he’ll give anybody the best hugs in the whole world! I mean he really tightens up while he’s hugging! Alissa said he’s trying to do kisses now.
Boston also gets into a lot more things than America did. He’s already into things that America still hasn’t bothered (typical boy, I guess). But he’s a really good boy, and I’m not just saying that because he’s my son. He went to his first basketball game last month to watch his cousin Jordan on Senior Night. He sat there with his uncle Marcus and aunt Melissa as if he owned the place. He had his little Boston Red Sox cap on and he just watched the game like he was genuinely interested!
Another little tidbit for you… Boston is captivated by the guitar. I’ve seen him crawl out of the playroom to my room where he goes to my guitar rack and starts strumming the guitars. I’ve seem him entertain himself on the acoustic guitar for more than 30 minutes at a time! It looks the little guy is going to be a lot like his dad (God help Jessica).
Jessica is doing much better. She had some postpartum depression for a few months, but she’s doing MUCH better now. She also had some problems with obsessive-compulsive disorder, but I think she’s pretty much over that too. Her body has gone through a lot over the last couple of years, so it’s no wonder things got a little out of the ordinary for her. I’m just glad she’s feeling better now.
I’ll post the best pics I can find on here, but it’ll probably be sometime tomorrow evening before I can do that. We’ll see. Take care everyone!
Kevin
I am observing! Keep up the good work.
Hi to the Adams, So good to get an update on you guys. I can imagine what a good time you have around the house with both children talking. Is facebook something any one can look at? I have heard of it but never seen it. Keep well and keep loving, Love Aunt Dolores
Hello Aunt Dolores! We’re definitely having fun right now, but there is a lot of jealousy between the two of them, so we have plenty of frustration too!
Facebook is available to anyone, but you usually have to sign up for an account (it’s free) in order to see things. Don’t worry though, I’m going to post all of our pictures on here from Facebook. We need to keep this blog updated more often so we can have some sort of record of what’s going on around here these days! It’s good to hear from you! Hope to see you soon! -Kevin
