This post was actually started on August 5, 2008. I just now got a chance to finish it.

A couple of weekends ago, America started a new thing: hugging! We were playing around the other day, chasing each other in and out of her new play tent, and hiding from each other when she started putting her arms around my neck and pulling her head up alongside mine. I thought “Hmm… this feels like she’s trying to hug me” but I dismissed it. She kept doing this as we were playing, and eventually we stopped playing, and she kept on hugging me. Jessica saw what was going on and I told her what she was doing. Jessica asked America for a hug, and she actually did the same thing to her! So she gets the concept of hugging now! Pretty neat!

As for our little guy, he’s all smiles these days. Once he gets his belly full, he’s readily available for smiles. Just a little talking and he’s all over it. He also has this kind of excited laughing thing he does. It sounds like he’s laughing, and sometimes it sounds like he’s trying to talk (which I’m sure he isn’t, it just sounds like it).

He’s very alert now, and he actually watches television! I saw him watching cartoons earlier today and I was sort of surprised by it. He turns his head in the direction of whatever interests him. He even follows people with his eyes and head as they walk across the room. It’s pretty incredible that he’s doing this because he just seems so little.

I’m posting some photos here from the last few weeks. I might add more as I get time to post more, so check back later.
