She’s finally here! Before I say anything else, let me get the stats out of the way. America Maelyse Adams came into the world on April 10, 2007 at 1:03 PM. She weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces, and was 19.75 inches long.
It’s so hard to believe that we’re parents now. Really though (as Jim Farmer said) we’ve been parents for nearly 9 months already, this is just another stage in parenting. I’d like to say that Jim Farmer is awesome. He gave some good advice, and made me feel pretty comfortable with what I was going to see and experience. Jim, you’re excellent… I owe you big-time!
America’s been a really good girl, although she had quite a temper when she was in the nursery, just after her birth. You can see in one of the photos (the one where you can practically see her tonsils) that she’s pretty upset. It seems she has a little bit of her mother’s “touch-me-not” side in her because she would just cry louder every time the nurses did something to her.
I have to admit that I was pretty nervous about the big day. Although I couldn’t wait to see her, I was extremely nervous and worried for Jessica’s health (being cut open is no small thing). The anesthesiologist took some pictures of us in the O.R., so we have pictures of pretty much all phases of the birth, except for the really gross stuff. When I looked over the partition to see America come out, I was kind of grossed out when I saw what appeared to be intestines. However, it turned out to be the umbilical cord, not intestines. Once she came out, I was mesmerized. I couldn’t even take a picture of her when they held her up for me. I just froze and stood there staring at her.
So far everybody’s saying she looks like me (Kevin), but Jessica and I can’t figure out who she looks like. Take a look at the photos, then leave comment and let us know who you think she looks like. Here’s a link to the photos: http://www.compiledcode.com/meck
Congratulations & WOOT!!!!! She is beautiful! I’m glad everyone is safe and healthy.(Including Dad Ha Ha ) I can’t wait to meet her. I’m proud of you both. God has blessed you with the greatest gift of all. You will be wonderful parents and I pray I will get the opportunity to watch her grow. Congratulations again and may God continue to bless.
Gerald
P.S. Sorry Dude, She looks like her Mommy.
She’s so beautiful, I just love her so much! Like I was telling you on the phone when you came walking down the hall with her in your arms from the delivery room it looked like you were carrying yourself. Daddy was right she does have your wide set eyes. She has your round face and forehead and she does have Jessica’s lips. As for the nose the jury is still out, I think it will take a little time to see how that turns out. I just wish mom could have been here to see her. I’m proud and I know she would have been too! I keep saying Jessica finally got what she so badly wanted and I’m glad for you and her. Not to say you didn’t want her just as bad. I hope she and I will be as close and me and “B”. What a miracle she is!
Love,

Oh she is beautiful! So much hair too. To me she looks like Kevin so far, sorry jessica. Where is the picture of the “Proud Grandma” holding her? Try not to change her clothes too many times a day, lol. I am home most days if you need me. 502-868-6181. Brandie and I came by yesterday but I called Sue and she said you were all pooped so we didn’t stop. I mean it, you better call me if you need anything.
Love and kisses to you all & especially Mec.
Hi! What a beautiful family. Kevin, I knew you would make it. I can’t tell who she looks like, just perfect, even her little finger nails. God is so good! Love, Aunt Doloes
Kevin & Jessica,
Congratulations! America…the beautiful. Kind of cheesy I know, but it couldn\\\’t be more true. Isn\\\’t being a mom the greatest thing ever? Ok, so I guess being a dad is ok too.
Looks like Miss Adams is going to be quite the fashionista…love the hats in the photos! It\\\’s probably a good thing I did have a boy. Don\\\’t get me wrong, there are cute things for boys, but girls have so many more options – and so much more…PINK!
You guys take care and we hope to see you soon!
