The holidays have come and gone and the countdown has begun…at our house at least! Less than 4 months and God willing our Baby Girl will be here. We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and I celebrated my 30th birthday in between the two.
RubyRed made out good at Christmas too! Her Grampa (my Dad) has already started her out with the electronic gadgets by getting her a portable CD/DVD player for our car! NiNi and Poppy (my parents) gave what was supposed to be her homecoming outfit and a stuffed animal. Poppy also helped us out with the nursery furniture. Lisa, Jason and the Triplets along with Chris and Tara, and Kayla made sure she’ll be all dolled up in new outfits. She also got the cutest pair of “bloomers” and a “This Little Piggy” pig from The Richard’s and Osborne’s. The bloomers have a daisy on the bottom of them and say “Don’t smell the daisies” and have a matching headband! I can’t wait to see her in them! I’m already looking forward to next Christmas when it will really be all aboout her.
The nursery is done and hopefully Kevin can upload some pictures here in the next few days.
Mom and I headed to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg last Wednesday and came home on Friday afternoon to celebrate my 30th birthday! We shopped until we dropped and ate until we were stuffed. Unfortunately it’s hard to shop for yourself at the outlets when the only store that has anything to fit you is Motherhood Maternity so we had to buy for RubyRed (of course). I found her a new home coming outfit with a matching bonnet! We also bought her tons of books for her Poppa to read to her. Kevin will have to upload some pictures of her wardrobe also! He says she has more clothes than him and she’s not even here yet!
Ok, this is Kevin, and I’m going to finish this post for Jessica. It’s true, I’m being downsized from 1.5 closets, to 1. Red (who I’ve been calling “Rube” lately) is already taking over! I’ve never seen so many clothes for one baby in my entire life, and I’ve seen plenty of babies from my brothers, relatives, and friends.
I’ll tell this on myself even though I might get in trouble with Jessica. One of the reasons Rube has so many clothes right now is because she and her mom went to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg during the week between Christmas and New Year’s. I had it made during those two days, I must say. I could eat whatever, watch whatever on television, sleep whenever, game whenever, play guitar whenever… you name it! Anyway, when I first saw Jessica when she got back from Tennessee, I remember thinking “Wow!! She’s really popped out there in her belly now!” I didn’t say this to her, but I was thinking it (I’m not so dumb as to exclaim something like that to her). I couldn’t get over how big she had gotten in two days. I think it was where I had seen her every day, and then her being gone gave me the opportunity to get a fresh look at her. I eventually (and cleverly) told Jessica that she looked bigger, and she sort of doubted that she was any bigger. So when we went to the doctor yesterday, Dr. V. told Jessica that she looked “big”, and then he started asking me how much I weighed as a baby (I was 10.75 for those who don’t know). He talked to us for a while about birthing options, etc. and then we left. But it’s worth noting that I was apparently right about her being bigger because Dr. V. saw it, too. He even measured her belly, so he knows!
The funny thing is, Jessica isn’t gaining any weight because she stays sick all the time. On New Year’s Eve she woke up with a sinus infection and has been sick with it all last week, and this past weekend. But she’s better now!
Well I thought I’d put my two cents in so we could finish this post. I will get the pictures up eventually. Hopefully sometime this week. Oh, and that DVD player that Andy bought for the baby… I can definitely see myself riding in the back seat with her so we can watch “The Terminator”, “Predator”, “Donnie Brasco”, “The Godfather Trilogy”, and some other really good DVD’s I know she’ll want to watch!Â
I’m glad you guys decided to go with the sophisticated name of Ruby!! Made famous by one Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation! You guys Rock!!
This is the first time that I have read through the Blog and it’s truly amazing! You guys have done a great job and will be wonderful parents no doubt. Where did the name “Ruby Red” come from? Every time I read it, it reminded me of Nannie and what a wonderful feeling that was, as much as she worried us I’ll never forget when I went into labor with Dillon and we were on the way to the hospital and the last thing I told Boo was to make sure he called Nannie so she would hear from us and no one else. I really miss her and she would be so proud of you Jessica and how your life has turned out to be. I just hope that “Ruby Red” doesn’t put you and Kevin through all of the drama that we put Nannie through. You know they say what comes around goes around! LOL I was going to sign-off “Until next time, Aunt Heather” but I don’t guess I’m the aunt this time and all of the mess that we got ourselves into at Thanksgiving over cousins, 2nd cousins, and once removed…..You can just figure out what I am and let me know.
Love you guys!
