Since I have received several emails asking, “why Red”, I thought that I should post on how Kevin came up with the name!
First, to know Kevin and his family is to know that they have the most unique/abstract nicknames for each other. For example Kevin, when he was little, used to call his Mom…Bombirno and his sister Stephanie…Woodstock. His niece Kayla…Miss Ponk (Kevin’s Mom made up this one), but to this day he refers to her as Boindette! Many of you know that over the past 12 years I too have had several nicknames, but the one that has stuck is “Mrs”. On to “Red”…Kevin actually came up with this one too! This whole adventure started during our last “mini-vacation”. We knew that once we started the adoption process there would be no vacations until our trip to China. God obviously had other plans in store for us! We stopped in Target (imagine that) to buy the first pregnancy test and of course their company color is red. Then we were staying in a Red Roof Inn that night and we did the test. The combination of the two being connected with Red is how he came up with the name!
To add to the name, Mom decided that since my due date is extremely close to her Mom’s (my Nannie Wagoner) birthday, she would add Ruby to it. So you may hear our little sprout referred to as Ruby Red or just Red! Whichever is fine with me!
Jessica, Kevin and “RubyRed”. God has blessed you and our family. I am so happy for you and I love you both very much. It has truly been an amazing, God Blessed year for our family, first Chance and now a new little cousin for him. May their lives be filled with love and joy always. Love, Anne
