The last time I saw Red, there wasn’t much to use to determine that what I was looking at on the ultrasound screen was actually a baby in the works. I mean, I saw and heard the beating heart, but there wasn’t much definition of the fetus beyond that. But yesterday there were “arm-buds”, “leg-buds”, a spinal chord, and a brain. Red is taking shape! It’s amazing to see the changes that have taken place since last week!
While we were looking at the screen, the doctor held the ultrasound wand still when all of a sudden, Red moved those little “leg-buds”! They moved in a sort of walking motion, with one moving then the other kind of like they were jiggling! The doctor and I started saying “oh, it moved it’s leg buds”, but Jessica didn’t get to see it. I never thought I’d see something like that at such an early stage in the pregnancy (8 weeks), but it was exciting to see movement.
On the way home the image of Red moving those leg-buds stayed on mind. It’s kind of humbling to think that another person is being formed right now that’s a combination of Jessica and me. If I’m not mistaken, this will be the last time we see Red until 20 weeks. By then Red will be half way to us…
It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
