Yesterday started off great…my first prenatal visit! I was up and ready to go by 8 am. Mom was going also so I met her at her house and of all days to be running late…she’s NEVER late, but off we went! Kevin met us at the office too! I went back and first things first they weighed me! YUCK! Anyway off to the ultrasound room, undressed, Mom and Kevin came in and thus began our adventure! My Dr. started the ultrasound and found the gestational sac, but discovered that I wasn’t as far along as we initially thought instead of 6 weeks I was more like 5 weeks. She gave us a copy of the ultrasound and ordered another round of bloodwork to make sure that the HCG levels were still doubling. She wanted me to come back Friday 9/1/06 for a repeat ultrasound! I was kind of bummed and just anxious to get back to Paris and to the hospital for my labs! I was done at the hospital by 11:40 am and then the wait began! At 2:00 the labs were back and the level was a big fat -0-! What? Could this really be happening? I thought that there was an error, but thought for sure that this meant that the level was dropping and that I would soon begin the process of miscarrying! I got all upset left work and went home to sleep! I called the Dr.’s office and was informed that the results had to be off considering the ultrasound earlier. She called the lab and asked them to repeat the bloodwork with confirmation. Finally at 5:30 pm I received word that my level was 5725! Right where it should be and that there was a lab error earlier! I have to repeat the bloodwork again on Wednesday and hopefully it will be a better experience than this one!
What a horrible day…that ended well!
